VERTEBRATES OR INVERTEBRATES?/  VERTEBRADOS O INVERTEBRADOS?

Vertebrate animals have a skeleton. / Los animales vertebrados tienen esqueleto.

Chameleons, frogs and fish are vertebrates. / Los camaleones, las ranas y los peces son vertebrados.

Invertebrate animals do not have a skeleton. / Los animales invertebrados no tienen esqueleto.

Butterflies and bees are invertebrates . / Las mariposas y las abejas son invertebrados.

REPTILES

Reptiles are vertebrate animals. / Los reptiles son animales vertebrados.

Reptiles have scales and some have a shell . /Los reptiles tienen escamas y algunos tienen caparazón.

Reptiles lay eggs. / Los reptiles ponen huevos.

Reptiles breathe with their lungs . / Los reptiles respiran con los pulmones.

Some reptiles have no legs and some have four legs. /Algunos reptiles no tienen patas y otros tienen cuatro patas.

Reptiles are cold-blooded. / Los reptiles son animales de sangre fría.

Lizards, tortoises and turtles are reptiles. / Los lagartos y las tortugas (de tierra y de agua) son reptiles.

AMPHIBIANS / ANFIBIOS

Amphibians live in water and on land. / Los anfibios viven en el agua y la tierra.

Amphibians lay eggs in the water. / Los anfibios ponen huevos en el agua .

Amphibians are vertebrates. / Los anfibios son vertebrados.

Amphibians have smooth skin. / Los anfibios tienen la piel suave.

Frogs , salamanders and toads are amphibians. / Las ranas, las salamandras y los sapos  son anfibios.

LIFE CYCLE OF A FROG / El CICLO VITAL DE UNA RANA

Frogs lay eggs in the water. / La ranas ponen huevos en el agua.

Tadpoles come out of the eggs. / Los renacuajos salen de los huevos.

Back legs grow, then front legs grow and the tail disappears. / Crecen las patas traseras, luego crecen las patas delanteras y la cola desaparece.

The frog comes out of the water. / La rana sale del agua.

 

INSECTS / LOS INSECTOS

Insects are invertebrates. They do not have a skeleton. / Los insectos son invertebrados. No tienen esqueleto.

They have three body parts: head, thorax and abdomen. / Su cuerpo tiene tres partes: cabeza, tórax y abdomen .

Insects have six legs and two antennae. / Los insectos tienen seis patas y dos antenas.

Some insects have wings. / Algunos insectos tienen alas.

Insects are small. / Los insectos son pequeños.

Insects  lay eggs. / Los insectos ponen huevos.

A butterfly, a cockroach, a mosquito, an ant, a bee and a ladybird are insects. / Las mariposas, las cucarachas, los mosquitos, las hormigas, las abejas y las mariquitas son insectos.

INVERTEBRATES / INVERTEBRADOS

These invertebrate animals are not insects: worms, spiders, centipedes, and snails. They do not have six legs: 

Estos animales invertebrados no son insectos: los gusanos, las arañas, los ciempiés y los caracoles. No tienen seis patas.

FISH / PECES

Fish live in water. / Los peces viven en el agua.

Fish have scales and fins. / Los peces tienen escamas y aletas.

Fish breathe with their gills.  / Los peces respiran con las branquias

Fish have bones in their bodies, so they are vertebrates. / Los peces tienen huesos dentro del cuerpo, por tanto son vertebrados.

Fish lay eggs. / Los peces ponen huevos.

Eels, sardines, goldfish and sharks are types of fish. / Las anguilas, las sardinas, los peces de colores y los tiburones son tipos de pez.
